What has kept Modern Appliance around since Casey Kasem first started counting down the American Top 40? The great people of Northwestern Oklahoma and the relationships we’ve been honored to build with you over the years.
Our Story Your Experience Feeling Good About Your PurchaseOur Story
It started with William Warren in 1970 when he purchased Harris Refrigeration and formed Modern Appliance. Tom and Mary Hunter took over the business in 1980 and now, Matt and Jennifer Thompson are the third-generation proprietors. Over the years, the store has seen advances in technology, changes in regulations, as well as ups and downs in the economy. One thing remains the same; Honesty and integrity are at the core of our values. When you shop here, you are shopping with your neighbors. You will see that in how we do business.
Your Experience

From shopping in your jammies online, to coming in to touch and feel the appliances, and through the installation of your new appliances, Modern Appliance does it best.
Our website is up to date with current inventory that you can take home today. Look for the “Get it Today” flags. And with our huge warehouse, there are a lot of choices. It’s frustrating to pick your appliance and then find out it will take 3 weeks to get it.
Special order appliances are listed as well so you can see options for your unique kitchen and taste. Shopping online is a breeze with the website.
Need it today, but want something unique? We want you to have the refrigerator you want: color, style… If you found the one, but we don’t have that exact model — And you need it today! We have refrigerators to loan out to get you by until yours arrives. That’s what shopping with your neighbors means! It’s not a cup of sugar, but we think it’s pretty neighborly.
When you come to the showroom, you will find a good selection of appliances. We stock the latest technology.

- Features that take care of Mr. Scruffles are a big thing today. Several manufacturers offer washer and dryer cycles to take care of his fur problem so you have more time for belly scratches.
- Smart features are growing in the appliance industry. It’s not for everyone, but preheating the oven from bed on a Sunday morning somehow makes the cinnamon rolls taste better.
- Retro appliances are a big hit these days. We see inspiration from the malt shop days of the 1950’s as well as the curves of Art Nouveau.
Our team is well-versed in the new features on the market to make life easier and make your friends envious. The team can help you decide which model makes sense for your life, your family and budget. In the end, you’ll feel confident you have picked the best appliance for your needs.
Speaking with any of our appliance consultants gives you a chance to ask questions and learn tidbits you didn’t even know to ask. It can be hard to see the differences in these boxy hunks of metal and we can help.
Finish it all off with professional installation. Get back in those comfy clothes and relax. Your Installation Technicians will:
- Remove and dispose of the Harvest Gold appliances
- Unbox your shiny, new appliances and dispose of the packaging
- Bring it into its new home, hook it up, and test. He won’t do a load of laundry, but will walk you through the options.
Now, you can get back to your crazy life.
